Online - Asynchronous
We believe that anyone who teaches online for Christian Brothers University needs to go through our online training program. This training will introduce faculty to the consideration that teaching in an online classroom is different from the traditional classroom.
This training will introduce you to:
How to navigate the online classroom, both as a student and as an instructor.
How to create a community of inquiry among online students.
How to have an effective teaching and human presence in an online classroom.
How to create courses in our Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas.
The course is 5 weeks long and will consist of two weeks of instruction and discussion, two weeks of creating within a course shell, and one week of peer reviews and reflection.
The finished product is the beginnings of an online course, including a course homepage, course overview, about the instructor page, welcome video, and at least one module of content prepared for students.
There is a stipend ($500) given to those who participate fully and successfully complete the training.
